What is a power hour and why do you need one?

A power hour was one of the very first services I started offering in my business and it is still one of my most popular services, but what is it and why do you need one?

What is a power hour?

A website power hour may sound self-explanatory, it’s an hour’s call, right? Well surprisingly, it’s much more than that so I wanted to share a proper breakdown of what’s included.

1 - A professional website audit

Before I we ever hop on a phone call, the very first step of a power is a professional audit of your website. I will review your website thoroughly before our call to identify ways you could improve it, ways you could generate more sales and ways to improve your user experience. There are over 30+ things I look out for when auditing a website so before we even hop on a call, I will have a thorough understanding of what you do well and what could be improved.

2 - An hour long strategy session

This is where you can book 60 minutes on my calnedar for us to hop on a call. We can either spend this time going through my findings or answering any questions you may have. Whether you’re stuck on what pages to include and need a second opinion, have a bunch of questions about SEO that you want answering or don’t even know where to begin, this is your opportunity to pick my brain.

Power hours have been used by clients at so many different stages of business, many of whom have built their website’s themselves but want a bit of extra advice and support. For example my client Antje came to me having built her website herself but before launching, she wanted a professional pair of eyes to look over the site, spot any areas of improvement and make sure her site was privacy law compliant. Here’s what she had to say:

“I knew Freya was the web designer for me right from the discovery call. She has such a personal approach and wants to understand what it is that you require. Freya is so supportive and made me feel so comfortable right from the start. Her technical expertise blew my mind. It is so good to know that someone has your back. I could ask any question, nothing was too much trouble and her response time was amazing. Freya even produced short tutorials that I can always revisit should I need to. I am sure that I will use Freya's services again in the future.”

3 - Notes & Action Plan

Off the back of our call and my website audit, you will receive a comprehensive follow up document which contains our notes, call recording and a list of actionable steps you can follow to improve your website. In the case that it may be helpful, I’ll also send over links to any resources/guides/tools that you might find useful. You’ll walk away with a list of actionable and easy to understand steps & confidence in your website.

4 - 2 Weeks Post Call Support

Something that bothers me about the web design industry is web designers who leave their clients hanging. That’s why baked into my power hour service is two-weeks post call support via email. It’s there to help encourage you to take action on our call and so that you can implement the suggested changes with support if you need it. So if you have any questions, something isn’t clear or you want a bit of feedback, I am right there to support you.

Honestly, this is one of my favourite parts of the power hour service because I get to see what you implement off the back of our conversation.

Would you benefit from a power hour?

A power hour is perfect for you if you have built your website yourself but you want to get the opinion of a professional to help you feel more confident in what you create. Maybe you have a few questions you want personalised answers to and just want some advice/reassurance to make sure you’re on the right track.

If that sounds like you then you’re exactly the right fit for a power hour. This is your opportunity to get support, advice and a little bit of hand holding too.

Case study: Celestial Bodies Coaching

Celeste is one of my most recent power hour clients and she came to me feeling overwhelmed with all the options, feeling unconfident in the website she had created, feeling like it looked really DIY rather than professional.

After auditing her website, I came to our call prepared with a list of tweaks she could easily implement, but also reassurance that she had done a good job. Building a website yourself is not easy and deserves to be celebrated. With so many of the foundations in place already, Celeste simply needed a nudge in the right direction.

What makes Celeste an incredible case study was her determination to implement all the changes we spoke about quickly. Really making the most of the two week post call support, we had lots of back and forth over email with feedback, questions, how-to videos and more.

After all this, Celeste walked away with a website she feels so much more confident in, truly has the foundations in place to help her grow her PT business and a website she could finally publish knowing all her hard work had paid off.

Here’s what she had to say about working with me:

”I worked with Freya through her Power Hour service and couldn’t recommend her more. She provided clear, detailed feedback, and it was obvious how much time and care she put into reviewing my website before our call. I left the session feeling confident, inspired, and excited to make the suggested tweaks. I’m so proud of how my website has turned out. Thank you so much Freya!”
