Run Club Website Design

Creating a central hub for The Pub Run Club community

As The Pub Run Club grew, so did the challenge of keeping everything organised. Information was spread across social media, new runners weren’t sure how to join, and organisers were answering the same questions week after week.

I designed a bold, easy-to-manage platform that captures the energy of the club while making it simple to promote events, sell merchandise, and welcome new members. All with the idea to support their mission: Have Fun, Get Fit, Be Social.

Project Snapshot

  • Client: The Pub Run Club

  • Industry: Community Fitness / Social Running Group

  • The Challenge: Rapid growth with no central place for information or updates

  • The Solution: A vibrant, mobile-friendly website designed to support community engagement and future growth

  • The Outcome: A professional online hub that reduces admin and makes it easier for new runners to get involved

The Challenge

Before the website, the club relied heavily on Instagram and word-of-mouth to share updates. While this worked in the early days, it quickly became difficult to manage as the community expanded.

New runners struggled to find key details like meeting points or pace options. Event information was easy to miss. And the club’s founder Chris, was spending unnecessary time responding to repeat questions instead of focusing on building the community.

The club needed a single, reliable place where everything could live, somewhere members could trust and newcomers could navigate with ease.

With a self-proclaimed fear of tech and no idea where to start, Chris was happy to get someone onboard to support with building the club’s website.

Project Goals

When Chris first approached me, he knew he wanted to create a website for the run club which really showcased the welcoming community he had worked so hard to create. But beyond that, Chris was keen to create a more “official” online presence with a website that:

  • Creates a clear starting point for new runners to learn how the club works

  • Showcased the welcoming personality and mission of the club.

  • Allows members to book event tickets easily for paid running events.

  • Grew an email list of members to reduce the reliance of Instagram from communication about upcoming runs/events

  • Made it easy for members to buy merch to support the club’s expansion.

  • Made it easy for potential partners/collaborators to connect.

  • Is SEO optimised so the run club could be found by new members searching for a run club locally, and encouraged them to join by answering FAQs.

The Approach

Rather than jumping straight into design, we focused on understanding how the club actually runs, from weekly meetups to social events, so the website could reflect real-life use, not just look good.

Community-Led Structure
The layout was designed around how members interact with the club, making key information quick to find for both regular runners and first-timers.

Personality-Driven Design
The visual style captures the fun, social nature of The Pub Run Club, helping the website feel like an extension of the experience rather than a formal organisation page.

Simple, Sustainable Management
The site was built so organisers can easily update content themselves, ensuring it remains useful without adding extra workload. As well as custom video tutorials so anyone supporting the club will know exactly how to make changes.

The Tech Taken Care Of
To make things as easy as possible, all of the tech involved in a build was completely taken care of. Things like connecting their domain name, setting up payment processing and connecting their email marketing tool.

The Results

The new website gives The Pub Run Club a true digital home, one that supports both day-to-day organisation and long-term growth.

Now, new runners can quickly understand how to get involved, events have a dedicated space to live and merch can be sold with ease. The club has a professional platform that reflects the energy of the community while making operations smoother behind the scenes.

Instead of juggling information across multiple channels, everything is now centralised, clear, and built to scale as the club continues to grow.

Professional Online Presence

Before working together, The Pub Run Club exclusively ran through an Instagram profile to promote events and find new members. They now have a professional website, email list and online shop which elevates their community into “the real deal”.

Growing Online Community
& Email List

Instead of relying solely on Instagram to promote events and update members, The Pub Run Club now has its official email list of members. Not only reaching more people who aren’t on social media, but also taking the stress off always being online.

Automated Fundraising Through The Merch Shop

One of the key ways that the founder Chris fundraises money for the club is through official Pub Run Club merch. Instead of manually taking orders and cash at their weekly run, members can now purchase merch directly from the site with all profits going straight back into the club.

Event Tickets Made Easy To Buy

Regular events is one of the cornerstones of this community and instead of giving a portion of ticket sales to Eventbrite, The Pub Run Club can now sell tickets directly on their website. It’s a much more convenient and streamlined way for members to find out what’s going on in the club.
